how does that work out for you

I am

ON....

FIRE.........

with this crappy MS Paint comics thing I am doing, huh.
I present to you the most dignified and successful idea I had all week:

Lessons learned: multitasking for efficiency and time-saving feats of genius not likely to end well when hurrying at 8am, having physically gotten up at 7:51am.

I made a third installment to Abashed Comics, which you've never heard of before. It is about getting sexually harassed while you are trying to schedule some guy for an evaluation.

Abashed Comics

I found these old MS Paint specimens in my gmail archives the other day when looking for other documents I might have emailed to myself. Context: at the time, I was working as a temp at my alma mater university, in one of the least stellar performances as an employee I have ever given. During my time there I also crafted an elaborate friend chart with small pictorial caricatures of my main squeeze pals, gave life to countless blingee gifs, and discussed the details of my intimate life in hushed tones with my coworkers in the tech support cave. Those were the only positives, though.

I can't believe I only did two of these!

visual cue

I made this for Brock the other day, as an explanatory assistant for my feelings on the organic/local/conventional/green/yuppie/hippie/trustafarian/blagblag issue as relates to fresh produce.
Frankly, I still want to tweak it into oblivion and add a million nodes of interim decisions, but this is the gist:

Extremely poor resolution thanks to my extremely old work computer operating system. Also, it appears in this relatively simplistic, streamlined presentation precisely because I made it at work and could not tinker with unlimited care. Look for the expanded version... sometime. Actually, what's more likely is that I will dig through my gmail archives and find other diagrams, charts, illustrations, or pastiches I have produced in a chat-inspired mania, and post those instead. Perhaps it will be a regular feature. Perhaps!

ETA [8/11/09, 7:35pm]: Updated (though not much expanded) version, after all. I started with adding an extra notch on the hierarchy of preference... and overhauled all the fonts. I can't resist the temptation to muck around with font styling. For historical purposes, original here.

a dress for the sun, which i'm told does exist

I have these huge men's plaid shirts from the Salvation Army that I bought in a giddy fit on the two preceding Wednesdays (half-off!), and intend to make into summer shirtdresses for myself. Until recently this was kind of a vague plan in my mind. I knew I had enough fabric to go in any number of directions with the neckline and sleeves; possibly I could even add extra fabric to the shirttail for a longer skirt. But I sketched out a rough idea today while training on phones with my coworker, and I'm so pleased with it that I might make all three like so. This (horribly webcammed) sketch is a refined version, with a face that actually kind of looks like mine for extra visualization potential!

There's enough time yet to go alter the other plaid shirt which has Brock's (slightly resigned?) approval, so I think I will go do that.
