Band practice, and also super uncomfortable footwear that I always seem to wear on Wednesdays.
There's a secret benefit here, which is that it's encouraging me to focus on refashioning the already-towering pile of thrift haul I've got mouldering in the sewing room (I'm done kidding anyone with calling it the "craft room" -- it's thoroughly littered with threads and scraps, and rare is the day when anything happens in there not involving the iron or the Bernina). Unfortunately, in the present heat wave, I'm not especially cheerful about working on these projects, so much as grimly committed to completing them so I have breezier garments to wear in my efforts to avoid beastly overheated death.
The project I'm daydreaming most about lately is an alteration of a too-big-for-me brown and white polka dot dress into a much shorter, much better fitted chic little cocktail dress for an upcoming wedding I'll need to get through outdoors. I'm thinking I'll aim for this:
Without the little boxy jacket. So, basically the girl on the right who's cramming her nostrils into her nosegay. The dress already has a belt in self-fabric, so I don't even need to mess about with making a cumberbund! The trick now is to not obsess too much over how perfect it could be and then wig myself out of making an attempt that could fail!!!!
WOOO SEWING WOO GUYS WOOOO
